Pune International Literary Festival from 2nd September 2016- PILF 2016 theme is Children’s Rights

The fourth edition of the city’s own literary festival, Pune International Literary Festival or PILF will begin from 2nd September 2016. This three-day literary festival will begin at the Yashwantrao Chavan Academy of Development Administration (Yashada), Baner, Pune, in the Maharashtra state of India.

It is organized by city-based founder and director of the festival Manjiri Prabhu. The theme of this year’s festival is ‘Children’s Rights‘ wherein the organisers aim at increasing awareness about issues related to children. It has a vision to engage, explore and experiment with all forms and genres of the written word.

Infosys Limited co-founder NR Narayana Murthy will inaugurate the Pune literary festival, followed by a ‘Yours Truly’ session, where he will talk about his life story followed by interaction with the audience.

“Though over 70 literary festivals in India are hosted every year across various cities, Pune never had one. So with an intention to give the city its own literary festival of English literature, we started PILF three years ago,” said Prabhu while addressing the media on Wednesday.

Professor Ravikumar M.Chitnis, Principal MITSOM, Trupti Agarwal, Director of Vishwakarma Publications, Sabina Sanghvi, Member of Advisory Board, PILF , Bipinchandra Chaugule and Leena Prabhu, Members of the Organizing Committee of PILF were also present on the occasion.
With over 100 participants, over 50 sessions (3 sessions in parallel, every hour) including workshops and a dynamic exhibition, we aspire to offer an inspiring and interactive platform in Pune for writers, publishers, media, film & TV writers and readers.
  • Under this theme, the audience will be engaged in various activities like street plays by Save the Children organization.
  • There will also be an exhibition on the works of Enid Blyton, writer of children’s favourite novels, Noddy .
  • The festival gives an opportunity to bibliophiles from the city to interact with their favourite authors and attend talks to be given by people from varied fields.
  • Through this literature festival, the organisers want to create a platform for budding literary talents from across the country.
  • This festival will bring famous names like Raghunath Mashelkar, Rajdeep Sardesai, Ashwin Sanghi, Ad-Guru Prasoon Joshi, Archie Comics CEO Nancy Silberkleit and Aviruk Sen on the same platform.
