Government Brings German Back To Kendriya Vidyalayas After Modi-Merkel Meet

The Union Cabinet gave permission to the application of including German language in Kendriya Vidyalayas. German language taught as additional subject. HRD Ministry and federal foreign office approve this on 19 November.

According to press trust of India, “an official statement released in Delhi said, an “expost approval” has been given to the `Joint Declaration of Intent’ for the promotion of German as an additional foreign language in Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) in conformity with the National Education Policy of India and the promotion of teaching modern Indian languages in Germany”

German was earlier taught in KVs but previous year the Board of Governors of the Kendriya Vidyalaya and HRD Minister, Smriti Irani, Decide in a meeting, to stop the teaching of German language as an option to Sanskrit.

Earlier in April When PM visit to berlin, Germany had asked about the restart of teaching German in schools as per the order of Supreme Court. last year in month of December Supreme court gave order to KV that if a student’s select any language as additional subject will be provided all facilities.
